As lifetime locals in Fort Worth, Texas, we're privy to all the best gems Cowtown has to offer! We're constantly changing and upgrading our historic areas like Stockyards and Sundance Square, but there's always something for EVERYONE! If you are looking for the spicy flavors of the south or the best steak of your life--- Fort Worth Texas has it all! If you are visiting the area or looking for recommendations for your guests coming to town, we suggest you send this this list of our Top 10 spots around Fort Worth:
1) Fort Worth Zoo
Voted #1 zoo in the United States in 2021, this wonderful zoo is the perfect size for the littles! While major renovations are currently underway to expand the habitats for some animals, there's a wide variety of animals and new exhibits to experience the magic of the Fort Worth Zoo!
2) Sundance Square
Things may look a bit different the past few years, but you'll always find a fun hustle & bustle around Sundance! With epic restaurants like "Reata," "Capital Grille," "Ruth's Chris" and "Del Frisco's" to appease your foodie flavor, majestic theaters and carriage rides! During the summer, you'll find dancing fountains the kids will love, live music, charming awnings to sit & relax amidst cafes, food and coffee. During the winter season, the infamous Sundance tree makes its way to the center of the square while Santa graces our presence from the North Pole!
3) The Fort Worth Stockyards
If you haven't made it to the Stockyards within the recent years, you are in for a treat! With the addition of the Drover hotel, new restaurants have made their way to this brand new development! You can check out the area remodeled during the filming of the hit TV series "1833," make your way for some incredible mexican food at Tim Love's "Paloma Suerte" or tapas at "Atico fort Worth" then end the evening with cocktails & cornhole at "Second Rodeo Brewing!" If you want to step back into the West, you'll find daily cattle drives twice a day, infamous staples of the Stockyards like "Risckys Steakhouse" or "H3 Ranch." Shopping, food & entertainment all live here in Fort Worth!!
4) South Main Urban Village (Downtown area)
The newest area to downtown Fort Worth, often referred to as SOMA, this quaint area is walkable with LOTS to see! A blend of historical downtown mixed with modern foodie and craft spots, this area is perfect for date night or dining! Take a group or a hot date to "The Cookery" or stop by the hot spots like the popular "Salsa Limon," "Dusty Biscuit Beignets," "BlackEyed Distilling Company" or "Four Sisters- A Taste of Vietnam" for some REALLY great food! 5) Joe T Garcia's
If you want to step back in time under a tree-lined patio with stunning fountains and authentic Mexican food-- you come here! The menu is simple-- enchiladas, fajitas, nachos, tacos, margaritas and beer. You won't find another captivating environment like the patio space at Joe T's! With prime location right near the famous "Fort Worth Stockyards," Joe T should be on your list of places to go (maybe even twice) to experience Fort Worth's best!
6) Fort Worth Water Gardens
It's something to see! A giant plunging waterfall in the heart of downtown allows you to explore this cute little park with 3 major water features! Great for kids to climb down, and even better for pictures of the family! It's something unique to our city, and a really fun spot for kids and families to experience. Sometimes you'll stumble upon live music and street vendors if you're lucky.
7) Magnolia Avenue
Foodie, coffee and consignment make this bohemian/artsy area a definite stop on your trip to Fort Worth! Very mom/pop inspired with eclectic stores and clothing shops, great outdoor cafes that are mostly pet-friendly and all the glitz and night life you'll need on your trip lives here. You'll LOVE "Brewed" for brunch, lunch at Heim BBQ and then sit with your kids or furr baby at Maggie's R&R to listen to live music and AWESOME food!
8) Kimball Art Museum/Amon Carter Museum of Art/Modern Art Museum
If you are looking for exquisite works of art, you come to this area! All located within blocks of each other, you'll experience famous pieces of art, jaw-dropping exhibits and some excellent food and craft drinks! You'll find incredible Post WWII art collections with contemporary pieces while Amon Carter boasts the museum's permanent collection features paintings, photography, sculpture, and works on paper by leading artists working in the United States and its North American territories in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
9) Fort Worth Parks
We're home to parks EVERYWHERE! There are so many nature centers to check out with magnificent scenery, various animals and sparkling lake views! Some of our favorites: Airfield Falls (a hidden gem on the Trinity River!), Eagle Mountain Park, Trinity Park Downtown, Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, Elmer Oliver Park for wildflowers and bluebonnets, Fort Worth Nature & Refuge Center as well as Legacy Park!
10) Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
The new Dickies Arena is home to the historic Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo in early February is a sight to see. A great educational experience for the kiddos, you'll find all the hard work of local kids showing livestock, interactive booths for petting various animals as well as some downhome Fort Worth food favs! There's an arena for shopping, snacking and grab your first custom cowboy hat! You'll learn a lot about Fort Worth flavor by checking out these great local businesses and their products. There's a lot of walking so bring a stroller for the littles, but watching the wonder and excitement in your small ones faces is worth it!!!
